SFCJL Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) collects, uses and shares information when you visit or use our websites, including https://sfcjl.org/ and https://frankresidences.org/ (the "Websites"), and any other site we operate for our campus programs. Those programs include Frank Residences, the Jewish Home Rehab Center, and the Jewish Home and Senior Living Foundation.

"SFCJL," "we," "us" and "our" mean the organization that operates the Websites. "You" means anyone who uses them. The final section, "Your California privacy rights," is our notice for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the CCPA). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Websites.

Where we get it

How we use it

We use the personal information we collect to:

We will not collect additional categories of personal information, or use what we collect for materially different or unrelated purposes, without telling you first.

Who we share it with

We may disclose personal information to third parties for a business purpose. Each one is bound by a contract that describes the purpose and requires them to keep the information confidential and use it only to perform the contract. The categories of recipients are:

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising [confirm: if we use advertising pixels or remarketing tools, we may be "sharing," and we must add a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link and honor opt-out signals]. If that changes, we will give you the opt-out and opt-in rights the CCPA requires.

Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, the CCPA gives you the rights below. This section explains them and how to use them.

We may deny a deletion request if keeping the information is necessary to:

How to make a request

To use your rights, submit a verifiable consumer request by:

You, or someone you authorize in writing to act for you, may make a request. A parent or guardian may make a request for a minor child. You may make a request to know or access twice in any 12-month period. Your request must give us enough information to verify that you are the person we collected information about or an authorized representative, and describe your request clearly enough that we can respond. You do not need an account to make a request. We use the information in your request only to verify who you are and to respond.

If we cannot verify your identity or authority, or confirm that the information relates to you, we cannot fulfill the request.

When and how we respond

We aim to respond within 45 days of receiving your request. If we need more time, we will tell you why and give you an extension of up to 45 more days, in writing. We will deliver our response by mail or electronically, as you prefer. If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain why.

For data portability requests, we will provide the information in a format that is easy to use and lets you move it to another organization. We do not charge a fee unless a request is excessive, repetitive or clearly unfounded. If we think a fee is warranted, we will explain why and give you a cost estimate before we proceed.

Other California privacy rights

California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code § 1798.83) lets California residents ask for information about our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make a request, email Marketing@sfcjl.org.

Health information

The Websites are not a place to share patient health information. Do not send medical records, diagnoses, insurance numbers or similar details through our forms or by general email. Health information we receive as a healthcare provider, for example when someone is admitted to our programs, is handled under our Notice of Privacy Practices and federal and California health privacy laws, not under this policy. If you need to share health information before admission, call the program you are working with so we can arrange a secure way to do it.

Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track

The Websites use cookies and similar tools to make pages work, remember your preferences and understand how the Websites are used such as Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as a result. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common standard for it, the Websites do not currently respond to those signals.

Children

The Websites are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, but no website or transmission over the internet is completely secure. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law.

Links to other sites

The Websites may link to other sites, including those of partners and affiliates. This policy does not apply to them, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy at any time. When we do, we will post the new version on the Websites and change the effective date above. If we make a material change to how we use personal information, we will tell you in a clear way, such as a notice on the Websites or an email to subscribers. Continuing to use the Websites after changes are posted means you accept them.
